Call Welcome

FAQ

Fair questions. Straight answers.

Which trades is it for?

Canadian trades that work on people's homes: plumbing, electrical, heating & cooling, roofing, garage doors, painting, tile, paving, landscaping, pool installation, and home cleaning. Signup starts from your trade's usual services and emergencies, and you can change any of them. More trades are coming. Email support@callwelcome.ca to ask for yours.

Do callers know they're talking to an AI?

Yes. The receptionist begins every call by telling the caller they are talking to an AI and that the call is transcribed.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your customers keep calling your business number. You set "call forwarding on no answer" from that line to your Call Welcome number, so only the calls you don't answer reach the receptionist.

What happens when the receptionist can't help?

It takes a message, asking for the caller's name, callback number, address, the issue, how urgent it is, and the best time to call back. Each message is texted to you and also appears in your online inbox. If the receptionist itself is ever unavailable, the caller reaches voicemail instead, and the voicemail is transcribed and texted to you.

Are my calls recorded?

No. Calls are not recorded. We keep a transcript of each call so you can review it. If a caller leaves a voicemail, the audio is deleted once it has been transcribed.

Which phones and carriers does it work with?

Any Canadian mobile or landline that supports conditional call forwarding, which most do. Signup walks you through setting up forwarding, and a test call confirms it works. Call Welcome is for Canadian businesses only for now.

How does the free trial work?

The first 14 days are free, and you're only billed if your receptionist is live by then: your call forwarding is set up and a test call has confirmed it works. If it isn't live, the trial ends with no charge. During the trial, calls go to voicemail once your plan's minutes are used, so the trial never costs anything.

What happens when I run out of minutes?

You choose when you sign up. Keep answering: extra minutes are $0.25 each, plus tax, charged to your card at the end of each billing month. Or stop answering: the receptionist stops until your minutes reset at the start of your next billing month, and callers can leave a voicemail, which is texted to you. You can change your plan, and this choice, later in the portal.

How are minutes counted?

Each call counts its length, rounded up to the next whole minute. Your minutes reset every billing month, and unused minutes don't carry over.

How do I cancel?

Cancel anytime from the portal. Billing stops at the end of the month you have paid for; if you chose to keep answering, a final invoice covers any extra minutes from that last month.
