Draft for legal review
This page has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet and may change before launch.
Terms of service
These terms cover your use of Call Welcome, an AI phone receptionist for trades businesses in Canada. By creating an account you agree to them.
The service
You keep your own business number and set “call forwarding on no answer” from your line to your Call Welcome number. Calls you don't answer reach the receptionist, which takes messages, answers common questions you have written, politely declines sales calls, and can put emergencies through to your phone as you choose. Each message is texted to you and appears in your online inbox.
If the receptionist is unavailable, the caller reaches voicemail, which is transcribed and texted to you.
It is an AI
The receptionist is an AI. It begins every call by telling the caller they are talking to an AI and that the call is transcribed. It can misunderstand callers or make mistakes, and transcripts can contain errors. Call Welcome is not an emergency service. In a life-threatening emergency, callers should dial 911.
Calls and transcripts
Calls are not recorded. Transcripts are kept so you can review calls. Voicemail audio is deleted after it is transcribed. See the privacy policy for how personal information is handled under PIPEDA, Canada's private-sector privacy law.
Who can sign up
Call Welcome is available in Canada only for now. You sign in with your mobile number and a code we text you, and you are responsible for activity on your account.
Call forwarding
Call Welcome needs a phone line that supports call forwarding on no answer. Signup shows how to set it up, and a test call confirms it works. Your receptionist is live once that test call succeeds.
Forwarding is set up with your phone carrier. Your carrier's own terms, and any charges it makes for forwarded calls, are between you and your carrier.
Price and billing
- There are three plans, each billed monthly in Canadian dollars, plus applicable tax: Starter, $99 a month with 400 call minutes; Standard, $199 a month with 800 call minutes; and Pro, $299 a month with 1,200 call minutes. There is no setup fee.
- Your free trial lasts 14 days from when you add your card. At the end of the trial, your plan is billed only if your receptionist is live. If it is not live, the trial ends with no charge.
- After the trial, your plan is billed every month on the same date. Your minutes reset each billing month, and unused minutes do not carry over.
- When you sign up, you choose what happens when a month's minutes run out. If you choose to keep answering, each extra minute is charged at $0.25 CAD, plus applicable tax, at the end of that billing month. If you choose to stop, calls go to voicemail until your minutes reset.
- During the free trial, calls go to voicemail once your plan's minutes are used, whichever you chose, so the trial is never charged.
- You can change your plan, and what happens when your minutes run out, later in the portal.
- Card payments are handled by our payment provider.
Cancelling
You can cancel anytime from the portal. Billing stops at the end of the month you have paid for. If you chose to keep answering, a final invoice covers any extra minutes from that last month.
